The project site is located in the historic heart of the village, delimited by a continuous row of buildings around the large parish church. Between the church and the buildings are two stretches of street and the village square, which were in a poor state of repair before the intervention.
The project proposes a new reading of the space. Instead of seeing it as the sum of different places (street and square), it addresses a single empty space in which a huge sculpture is set. The entire empty space thereby becomes a square with its limits, its buildings and the church, the main feature.
The paving is conceived as a continuous flow throughout the outdoor space, leaving a ripple of gentle waves made by basalt slabs. This dynamic effect underpins a space that is designed and enjoyed from the point of view of movement. Having established the rules of play, the project addresses the entire surface of the square as a single unit.
