The aim is to create a light squared plan footbridge at a fixed height that completely surrounds the perimeter of the Griminella Tower. Two lookout extensions in the form of arms allow views towards Montserrat massif and the Devil’s Bridge.
In order to emphasize the existence of the Griminella Tower and not to compete with a similar materiality (stone) or with materials that require maintenance (wood), the project choses a framework of corrugated steel bars of different diameters that make up the different elements prefabricated in workshop and assembled on site: structure and main body, railings and pavements.
These corrugated bars accentuates the visual permeability and lightness of the walkway, integrating through a low visual impact and favoring the possibility to contemplate the tower. The steel of the bars, which at no time comes into contact with the tower, integrates into the landscape through the dark, earthy color of the natural protective oxide of the bars. The fact that it is a permeable element, it facilitates the evacuation of water, reduces overloads, and does not require maintenance, with the exception of the plants that can grow around it. The roughness of the corrugation of the bars allows it to be an element suitable for not having surface slips, favoring use.
