The proposed building completes the volumetrics of the existing one, generating a clear and simple volume located southwest. The envelope is presented continuously without sudden changes in plan, without edges. A courtyard designed in the center of the building guarantees natural lighting inside, both in the current outbuildings and in the new program.
The “L”-shaped building opens up to the public space, giving it value and relating it directly to the interior of the library. In order to minimize the insolation on these west-facing facades, it is proposed to act in two ways: to protect the ground floor from this insolation, it is proposed to plant evergreen trees in the square; on the facade that overlooks the Town Hall square, a porched space is proposed that can be used as a living space softening the presence of this end of the building right in the square. On a second level, the facade materializes as a filter skin, guaranteeing solar protection and at the same time relating the interior to its surroundings without losing the more intimate character of the library as a study space.
