The aim is to recover the architectural and urban heritage value of Casa Tosquella and at the same time achieve a home for the elderly that can function beyond its program as a green climate shelter integrated into the neighborhood following these objectives:
– Open and connect the house and its gardens to the neighborhood, expanding and rethinking the vertices located in the Ronda as transitional spaces
– Preserve, and recover by valuing the original, constructive and plant elements.
– Connect and improve the interaction between the gardens and with the house, introducing a new staircase, a ramp, and reopening an old door in the basement that will intensify the outdoor activity linked to the center.
The new annex body that allows global accessibility to the building is solved with a minimal construction, formed by a roof plan, an opaque volume (facilities, services and the elevator), and a light green facade.
The roof plan that rests on this volume solves the delivery with the partition with the least possible contact, while defining a generous access porch.
The construction of this plan reinterprets the ventilated ceramic roof, incorporating the production of photovoltaic energy. This materiality is lost in the exterior access porch to become a vegetal roof.
