The volume of the building is clear and simple. In order to break the vertical component of the block, the project sets out to split it up horizontally. The volume corresponding to the ground and first floor is made up as a large base that supports the higher volume corresponding to the four upper floors.
This segregation enhances the horizontal component about the vertical lines. This is why it’s also considered a big horizontal opening for each plant that offers the possibility to contain terraces or simply carpentry enclosures.
Another significant element is the treatment given to the terraces of the first floor as they are usually subject to different types of closures for each flat. In order to avoid this heterogeneity of solutions, it’s set out a support structure unifying the general image of this façade. The exterior materiality of the building is firebrick, differing in color, dark for ground and first floor and clear regarding the four upper floors.
