SPECIAL NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS MENTION FOR THE TEAM BCQ ARCHITECTS AND TERRITORISXLM AT THE ‘AHI’ EUROPEAN AWARDS

Very happy to receive yesterday the Special New European Bauhaus Mention at the European Award AHI Architectural Heritage Intervention for the Master Plan of the Integrated Rehabilitation of Das Flores neighborhood in A Coruña, which we have drawn up together with our friends from TerritorisXLM!

The Award is a biennial event organised by the Barcelona-based platform AHI (Architectural Heritage Intervention) and the Architects’ Association of Catalonia, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona

The jury has considered this project “an inspiration, whose most valuable aspect is the integrated and social nature of the proposal, which addresses a widespread problem throughout Europe by proposing innovative solutions that favour a sector of the population – the elderly – deserving of special attention.”

The main objective is to create a more sustainable and efficient neighborhood model, as well as more inclusive and friendly for its inhabitants. The Master Plan is an urban regeneration tool for planning actions to improve the urban environment, public space, housing and facilities and services. It is both a strategic tool and an executive work instrument that guides future urban improvement interventions in the neighborhood.

The project¡s Action Plan is structured in five components:

• 18 strategic lines of action that operationalize the strategic objectives

• 60 performances collected in the Catalog of performances, which display the lines of action

• Masterplan, where actions and priority areas are identified, conceived as a

• Driving projects

• Pilot project, in which one of the driving Projects is presented in detail
