A friendly building is proposed, which unfolds around a garden open to the city. The articulation of the volumes responds to the desire to create different spaces within the new library: rooms of domestic dimension that ensure comfort and tranquility for users. All reading rooms in the knowledge area are oriented towards the garden. Citizens will see, from the Passeig de la Generalitat, a new garden and an open library, the interior activity will be perfectly visible from the street. It is proposed that there be ten large trees in the garden and each tree represents the victims of the 1991 attack. Thus, the garden is, above all, the memorial space that pays homage to the victims of terrorism, but it is also a space that can be used by library users as a space for relaxation and rest, to read in the shade of trees. Its slight slope towards the interior, makes the basement floor obtain excellent lighting conditions, in addition to being able to have independent access from the main entrance on the ground floor.
